IT Volunteers,
Happy 2008!! I know its nearly March and I have no good excuse for
not hosting any projects since November - except that DANEnet has
kept me extremely busy these last few months. A new year + new
budgets = new projects.
Our first one is next Tues.
March 4th, 6:30PM to ?????
Lutheran Campus Center
325 N. Mills Street, Madison
We'll be converting a "drape the wires over the desk" type of network
to a professional installation, including a patch panel, face plates
and a new switch. We'll also be adding some new runs both on the main
floor as well as upstairs. Its a lot of work so be prepared to stay
late (10PM????) although you don't have to stay the whole time.
Bring your networking tools (punch down tools, wire strippers) as
well as standard tools (screw drivers, utility knives, tape measures)
I'll have the wire, plates, jacks and punch down block. All skills
are welcome. You won't learn unless you get your hands dirty.
Call me if you get lost.

UPCOMING PROJECTS: a private school down town could use your help
rewiring a 40+ PC lab. More details later. If you know of non-profits
in need of a volunteer IT project, please let me know.
LISTSERV: some of you may be receiving this message because you
requested information about volunteering with DANEnet. The best way
to keep up to date on projects is to sign up for our listserv. Its a
very low traffic list - I try to host a project about once a month.
Head to http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/commcomp to sign up.
