Hello IT Volunteers,
Sorry for the slow winter but spring is here and DANEnet has a couple
of projects for April.
WED APRIL 18, 6:00PM to 9:00PM
Darbo-Worthington Neighborhood Association Office
414 Rethke Ave. on Madison's east side
The WPNA office could use some help. We'll be evaluating the misc.
equipment they have now, recycling what needs to go and setting up
anything worth keeping. At least one computer is a P3/1ghz but needs
more memory and W2K installed. The goal is to have at least a couple
of workstations and a printer for staff and volunteers to use.
The office is in a single story apartment building. The last "4" in
414 is missing but it is on the side of the building. Call me if you
get lost.
SAT APRIL 21, 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Consumer Computer, TV, Cell Phone and Electronics Round Up
Madison Waste Transfer Station located at 121 E. Olin Ave. near the
Goodman Pool
Just like in Nov., volunteers will help unload computers, monitors,
TVs and other techno-junk from cars. Cascade Assets Management, a
Madison-based computer recycler, will properly recycle all
components, saving tons of otherwise hazardous junk from going into
the landfill. See their website for more information (http://cascade-
assets.com/individual/madisonroundup.htm)
Parking is tricky but once you get in, jump in line and get to work.
There are usually two lines of cars which form. Simply ask folks what
they have to recycle and where it is. Try to discourage them from
getting out of their vehicles. Moving cars in and out is important as
things get backed up pretty quickly.
Items are generally separated by MONITORS, TVS, CPU and MISC. Don't
lift more than you can handle and watch out for moving vehicles. And
remember - EVERYTHING must be recycled - this isn't curb shopping.
Hope to see you out at either project (or both) Feel free to call or
email me with more questions.
