[Commcomp] Thurs. Nov. 9 - 7pm -PC Fix-up event

Volunteers,

Just a reminder about this Thursday's "PC Fix-up Night" at Bridge/ 
Lake Point Community Center - located at
1917 Lake Point Drive, Madsion (Day of Service meeting place) - see  
map below.

The staff at Bridge is starting some beginning computer classes and  
at the end of the class, they would like to give away one computer to  
each student from their community. DANEnet has some computers left  
over from  last year's Day of Service which would be perfect for a  
home user. The trouble is all these computers are in various states  
of repair.

Our goal is to go through about 20 computers, testing them and, if  
possible, install Windows 2000 plus some open source software. While  
we're at it, we need to make sure the CD, floppy and modem are  
working. What doesn't work will get thrown in a pile for the city  
recycling day (see below) Please bring your PC repair tools and we'll  
get to work. This could go late if we run into a lot of problems but  
don't feel like you have to stay all night.
