DANEnet hosts the Nonprofit Technical Round Table focusing on image
processing

What: People working with technology in Nonprofits come together to
share experiences and solutions.
Where: RSVP board room. 517 N. Segoe Road, Suite 301.
When: January 17th from 8:00am to 9:30am

In this session we will be talking about images. We will talk about the
differences between the pictures you put in your brochures and the
pictures you put on your Web sites. We will also talk about a range of
free image manipulation software that can save so-so pictures and
improve even the best images.

The Nonprofit Technical Round Table is a gathering of people concerned
about technology in the nonprofit world. Every other month interested
people gather for information sharing and discussion. The hour and a
half will be roughly divided into presentation, case study/discussion of
the focus topic and an open discussion of current technical issues.

Other notes:

1. Many people have stopped using Internet Explorer (the big blue E)
for their Web browsing and changed to FireFox for security reasons and
ease of use (primarily tabbed browsing and pop-up blocking).
Unfortunately there is a security problem with versions 1.04 and before.
The newest version, 1.5, is a recommended upgrade. In addition to
security patches and other security enhancements, this version has a
number of new features including support for new standards, better
accessibility features and automatic updates.

2. If you are interested in images for Web pages you might be interested
that Techsoup's stock program
(http://www.techsoup.org/stock/default.asp) is now offering Macromedia
Dreamweaver to nonprofits for an administrative fee of $35.
